Learn the Fundamentals of Assistive Technology in Orlando this April

RESNA’s popular two-day course, “Fundamentals in Assistive Technology,” will be offered at the Hilton Garden Sea World in Orlando, Florida on April 14 & 15.  This in-person, intensive course is designed for those just entering the profession, or assistive technology professionals who wish to expand their knowledge base. RESNA is authorized by IACET to offer 1.4 CEUs for the course. 
 
The course uses multiple case studies to illustrate applications of principles and theories in assistive technology provision, and provides an overview of different technologies. The areas covered include, among others:
  • seating and positioning
  • mobility
  • augmentative and alternative communication
  • computer access
  • sensory technologies
  • electronic aids to daily living

While this course may cover the general scope of the Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) Certification exam, it is not a review course for the exam.

The instructors are Jerry Weisman, M.S.M.E, ATP, RET, the owner and principal of Rehabilitation Technology Services, and Barbara Crane, PhD, PT, ATP, the coordinator of the Wheelchair Assessment Service at Gaylord Hospital in Connecticut. Both are RESNA Fellows and certified ATPs. 
 
On-line registration is available on the RESNA website. The cost is $375 for members and students, and $495 for non-members. There is also a special hotel room rate of $119 per night, plus taxes and fees. The registration deadline is March 15, 2016.
