Submissions are now being accepted for the 2016 RESNA Student Design Competition (SDC). The final deadline for submission is April 11, 2016. Visit the call for papers for submission instructions and information. 

The RESNA Student Design Competition is an annual showcase of creative and innovative assistive technology designs. Competition participants have often moved on to become leaders in the field. 

Undergraduate and graduate student teams with great ideas are invited to submit. Pas finalists include those studying mechanical, electrical, and biomechanical engineering; computer information science; special education and learning disabilities; physical and occupational therapy; architecture; and many other fields of study. 

Prizes

Up to six semi-finalist teams win a trip for two team members to attend the RESNA Annual Conference for final judging (July 10-14 in Arlington, VA), sponsored by the National Science Foundation. The entire team receives a free student membership to RESNA. At the conference, student semi-finalists showcase their designs to an international audience of assistive technology professionals, gaining contacts and connections to start a career. 

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three designs: 

First place: $1,000

Second place: $700

Third place: $300

Cash prizes are sponsored by ARM University Worldwide Education Progam. ARM, Inc., is the world's leading semiconductor IP company. ARM is providing a variety of informational links and help to student designers who would like to use ARM technology in their designs. 

TREAT Prize

The Center for Translation of Rehabilitation Engineering Advances and Technology (TREAT) is sponsoring the "Technology Most Likely to Become Commercially Available Prize." This prize includes a cash award and product development support. All semi-finalist teams are eligible to also compete for the TREAT prize.
