RESNA Recognizes Service in the field of Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology
RESNA, the Rehabilitation Engineering & Assistive Technology Society of North America, recently held its Awards luncheon in July 14, 2018 in Arlington Virginia at the organization’s annual conference. The Awards Luncheon promotes leadership, innovation, and commitment in the fields of rehabilitation engineering and assistive technology. The following awards were presented:
- Emerging Leader Awards: Recognizes new members who have made significant contributions, provided leadership, and have made an impact to RESNA during their first several years of participation.
- Seong-Hee Yoon, BS, ATP
- Tara Chay, MA CCC-SLP, MSCS, ATP
- Honorary Fellow Award: Recognizes non-members who have promoted issues and demonstrated leadership highly relevant to the field of assistive technology and rehabilitation engineering and who have encouraged the independence of individuals with disabilities.
- The Rt. Hon. The Lord Holmes of Richmond MBE
- Distinguished Service Award: Recognizes members for their sustained contributions and service to RESNA and the field of assistive technology and rehabilitation engineering.
- Leadership Award: Recognizes an agency, company, association, or university for their signficant contributions to the advancement of the field of assistive technology and rehabilitation engineering and who have provided recognition and support of RESNA.
- Center on Knowledge Translation for Technology Transfer (KT4TT) at the University at Buffalo
- Center for Translation of Rehabilitation Engineering Advances and Technology (TREAT)
- Samuel McFarland Memorial Mentorship Award: Recognize members or groups of members who have influenced, counseled, and nurtured others in the field of rehabilitation engineering and assistive technology.
- Alex Mihailidis, PhD, PEng, RESNA Fellow
- Colin McLaurin Distinguished Lectureship Award: Recognizes a scholar and leader who has made substantial and innovative contributions to the field of rehabilitation engineering and assistive technology through research, education, and/or practice.
- Geoff Fernie, CM, BSc, PhD, FCAHS, PEng, CEng
- Fellow Award: RESNA Fellow Awards recognize members who have made long term and substantial contributions to the field of rehabilitation and assistive technology as well as significant contributions to RESNA
- Therese Willkomm, PhD, ATP
These are in recognition for sustained efforts and contributions of time, energy, enthusiasm, and expertise promoting the health and well-being of people with disabilities through increasing access to technology solutions.
