RESNA Releases Updated Position Paper on Seat-Elevating Devices

The RESNA Seating and Wheeled Mobility SIG recently finalized the update to the position paper “The Application of Seat Elevating Devices."  The new position paper defined the title to focus on power wheelchair seat elevation, “The Application of Seat Elevation Devices for Power Wheelchair Users Literature Update” and includes 29 references.  In addition to the 29 references, expert opinion from academia, the clinical community, RESNA certified ATPs and other stakeholders makeup the current RESNA position.  This paper can be used by professionals within the field of Assistive Technology, end-users and family members, as well as funding agencies to establish the need and use of seat elevating devices.

The RESNA Board of Directors approved the paper on September 25, 2019. The paper followed RESNA's Position Paper Guidelines and included a period of public comment. Position papers are updated every 5 years. RESNA's position papers are free to the community. To download, click here
