Category: General

RESNA has signed on in support of the "Toronto Declaration on Bridging Aging and Disability."  This declaration sets out key principles and a short set of recommendations to change and enhance work in policy, research and practice with regards to aging and disability. The Toronto Declaration synthesizes the many papers presented at the Growing Older with Disability Conference (GOWD), part of six concurrent conferences held along with the RESNA 20111 Conference at the Festival of International Conferences on Caregiving, Disability, Aging and Technology (FICCDAT) in Toronto last June.

The declaration is co-authored by members of the planning committee for GOWD representing both aging and disability fields, various disciplines and a global geography. By endorsing this effort, RESNA hopes to bring more attention to the growing needs of an aging population with regards to assistive technology.
