Date: Wednesday, July 25, 2018
Category: Standards News

The next meeting of RESNA Standards Committee on Cognitive Accessibility will be held August 27th, 2018, virtually using GoToMeeting, 10:00 am PDT. Virtual meeting call-in information will be distributed prior to the meeting. Meetings are open to anyone; voting on documents requires membership.

The RESNA Standards Committee on Cognitive Accessibility last met in New Orleans, Louisiana in conjunction with ISO TC173/WG10 and the annual RESNA conference. Eighteen people participated in this meeting and reviewed RESNA CA-1, Sec. 1 proposed changes, RESNA CA-1, Sec. 2 data, committee outreach, and the status of ISO TC173/WG10.

The goal of the committee is to develop standards that affect people with cognitive impairment, their family members, caregivers, educators, and the manufacturers of technology products they use in daily living. RESNA is a standards developing organization accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). The RESNA Assistive Technology Standards Board is the U.S. Technical Advisory Group to ANSI for the development of ISO (International Organization for Standardization) standards pertaining to assistive technology and other products for persons with disabilities.

It is important to the work of the committee that we have participating members from various aspects of expertise in the field of cognition.  This includes Academia Research, Consumers/Caregiver/Advocates, Government, Product Research & Development, and Test Labs, Testing Assessment & Clinical Experts. To become a member, please visit www.resna.org/standards/cognitive-technologies-ct/cognitive-accessibility-ca to download the Standards Membership form for the committee.
