The RESNA/NCART 2016 Conference is now accepting workshop and instructional course proposals. Submissions are due November 19, 2015.
RESNA/NCART 2016 is July 10-14, 2016 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, VA. This is the first-ever collaboration between RESNA and
NCART, the National Coalition for Assistive and Rehab Technology, and in 2016 will take the place of the RESNA Annual Conference and the National CRT Leadership Conference.
NRRTS has joined as a partner of the conference, which will include the "best of both worlds" from each event, including:
- Clinically-focused workshop sessions
- Scientific research platform and poster sessions
- Professional development and leadership training
- Interactive exhibits with free public hours
- Capitol Hill visits
- Networking events
- Student competitions
- Instructional courses, including RESNA's Fundamentals in Assistive Technology course
Conference organizers are seeking proposals for innovative, interdisciplinary, informative and practical workshops and instructional courses in the following topic areas:
- Computer applications and communications
- Cognitive and sensory impairments
- Internationally appropriate technology
- Job and environmental accommodation
- Emerging technology
- Service delivery and outcomes
- Public policy and advocacy
- Seating and mobility, including complex rehab technology
- Other
While any topic will be considered in the “Other” category, conference organizers are particularly interested in the psychosocial aspects associated with accepting assistive technologies at different stages of life and for different diagnoses; serving baby-boomers; assistive technology and end-of-life issues; grant writing and how to identify partners and resources; strategies for cognitive rehab, and aging into multiple disabilities.
“We believe this collaboration will help yield strong proposals from the assistive technology community,” said John Anschutz, ATP, RET, and the 2016 Conference Program Committee Chair. “By combining forces, we are looking to foster greater innovation and interdisciplinary cooperation.”
